YouTube TV has unveiled its ‘multiview’ functionality for Android phones and tablets, enabling users to watch up to four simultaneous streams. This rollout to Android devices follows two months after the feature was made available on iPhones and iPads.
Initially launched in March 2023, the multiview feature is designed for sports enthusiasts who wish to follow multiple live games concurrently without the need to switch channels repeatedly.
To access multiview on an Android phone or tablet, ensure your YouTube TV app is updated to the latest version. Once updated, the option should appear under “Top Picks for You” or the “Watch in multiview” sections.
While YouTube TV has begun to introduce some customization options for multiview, it currently does not allow users to select any four channels freely. Google noted on X that although only curated multiview streams from YouTube TV are available at the moment, efforts are underway to enhance flexibility and add more options in the near future.
It’s important to note that YouTube TV isn’t alone in launching a multiview feature recently. Apple TV introduced a similar option for sports fans in May 2023, and Peacock has announced that viewers will be able to watch four livestreams simultaneously during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
