Although you could previously utilize your iCloud account to store and sync passwords across your devices, the process was far from intuitive. Accessing your passwords required navigating through the Settings app on your Mac or iPhone.
That is about to change with Apple’s announcement at WWDC 2024. The tech giant is set to introduce the Password Manager app, which will be included in the upcoming major updates of iOS, macOS, and visionOS, specifically iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and visionOS 2.
This new Password Manager app boasts an enhanced user interface, featuring a new left-hand column for easier navigation through your password collection. Users can now easily view all their passwords or filter by categories such as Wi-Fi passwords (a new feature), passkeys, or codes not associated with a specific website or service.
It’s worth noting that iCloud Passwords already offer support for shared passwords, verification codes, and individual notes for each password entry. The new app aims to simplify the onboarding process and encourage users to utilize iCloud Passwords for storing their sensitive information securely.
