macOS Sequoia introduces an innovative Continuity feature that allows you to mirror your iPhone screen directly on your Mac, providing a seamless and integrated user experience. Unveiled at WWDC 2024, this impressive update is set to benefit developers showcasing their apps and users needing quick iPhone access from their Mac.
With macOS Sequoia, you can navigate through your iPhone’s Home Screen, launch apps, and perform actions using your Mac’s trackpad. Whether you’re demoing an app in a video call or during an in-person presentation, this feature allows for a smoother shift between your slideshow and live app demonstrations, effectively transforming your iPhone app into another Mac app.
Apple illustrated how you can use Mac and iPhone applications concurrently, making multitasking more efficient. For instance, you can edit a video clip in Final Cut Pro on your Mac and effortlessly integrate it into an iPhone app template.
Furthermore, this feature enables text input and other interactions on iPhone apps using the Mac keyboard. iPhone notifications will be displayed alongside Mac notifications, allowing you to respond and take immediate action directly from your Mac. Additionally, the iPhone’s audio will play through the Mac, ensuring a cohesive experience.
Security remains a priority, as your iPhone will remain locked while mirrored, preventing unauthorized access to the device itself.
The mirroring capability is also compatible with Standby, providing at-a-glance information while the feature is active.
In addition to this groundbreaking feature, Apple introduced VisionOS 2 for the Vision Pro, along with the welcome addition of the Calculator app for the iPad.
Stay tuned for more updates as Apple continues to enhance productivity and connectivity with macOS Sequoia.
